Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters annual signature fundraising event. It is kicked-off in January as a three-month campaign of raising both awareness and funds for their tri-county youth mentoring programs. Bowl For Kids' Sake is supported by volunteers, youth, parents, businesses and community members who believe in the BBBS mission and want to help financially support the growth of matching more area kids with a mentor. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a non-profit donor-funded agency which relies on the support raised at events like Bowl For Kids’ Sake. Their 2010 Bowl For Kids’ Sake goal is to raise 10% of their budget to assist with the growth in both their Lunch Buddies and Community-Based Mentoring Programs throughout Rock, Walworth & Jefferson Counties.

Bowl for Kids' Sake 2010 will be held on March 20th at Rock River Lanes (1010 Larson Road) in Fort Atkinson (starting a 3pm). Although the event is held in Jefferson County, Big Brothers Big Sisters is asking for event support and participation from their tri-county service area.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a NOT about bowling, but about the celebration of the positive effects of youth mentoring. Participating bowlers are asked to not only raise program awareness but also monetary pledges in support of BBBS. The event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and encourages individuals, bowling teams, BBBS matches, community members and businesses to join together with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has made it easy for all bowlers to reach a minimum pledge goal of $100. By setting up your own personal pledge site at www.firstgiving.com/bbbsrwj you’ll be amazed at how quickly you will reach your goal. Create a site link that can be emailed to family, neighbors, friends or co-workers. You can customize your site with a picture, set your personal goal, tell your potential sponsors why you are raising pledges and watch the pledges grow! $100 is very easy to reach when you think of only 10 friends sending you $10 each! Many of our past bowlers have raised $400, $500 or even $1,000 just by sending their link to their contacts. Even in a difficult economy, many people want to find a way to give back to their community and through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids’ Sake event they can do just that. If you are a Facebook fan, remember to add your link to your account or as an ‘event’ and reach more individuals. All donations are tax-deductible to BBBS.

All bowlers who bring in their minimum pledge goal of $100 will receive 2 games of bowling, free shoe rental, an event T-shirt, food and door prizes. Youth can bowl for free, but are encouraged to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs by raising pledges too. Encourage your business to sponsor a team…what a great way to build employee morale and encourage a team atmosphere among co-workers as they work together on a community need. The 2010 6th Annual Hog Hula Memorial Day Fundraiser will be held on Monday, May 31st. The Hog Cabin Saloon will host the fundraiser which supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rock, Walworth & Jefferson Counties. A co-ed volleyball tournament will highlight the day along with local bands, food and raffles.

2010 marks the 18th year of the Annual Stinebrink’s Piggly Wiggly Golf For Kids event. This fun event will be held on Thursday, July 15th at Evergreen Golf Club in Elkhorn. Lunch begins at 11:00am with an 18-hole tee off at 12:30. The event is open to the public and supports the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs throughout Rock, Walworth & Jefferson Counties. $150/golfer includes cookout lunch, golf, cart, steak dinner, door prizes and golfer giveaways.
